With the main objective of providing institutional credit for enhancing the production and productivity of the agricultural sector in the country, the Agricultural Development Bank, Nepal was established in 1968 under the ADBN Act 1967, as successor to the cooperative Bank. The Land Reform Savings Corporation was merged with ADBN in 1973. Subsequent amendments to the Act empowered the bank to extend credit to small farmers under group liability and expand the scope of financing to promote cottage industries. The amendments also permitted the bank to engage in commercial banking activities for the mobilization of domestic resources. Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) is an autonomous organization largely owned by Government of Nepal. The bank has been working as a premier rural credit institution since the last three decades, contributing a more than 67 percent of institutional credit supply in the country. Hence, rural finance is the principal operational area of ADBL. Besides, it has also been executing Small Farmer Development Program (SFDP), the major poverty alleviation program launched in the country. More than 15 children in the village are suffering from fever due to cold, locals said. But they are yet to get medical treatment. Children can be seen in lack of adequate clothes for winter. Ninety percent of the houses in Thihi belonging to Thami and BK families are in ruins due to earthquake. Acting on a tipoff, a team from the anti-graft body raided the DoTM office, New Baneshwar and caught Pokharel with the bribe amount, according to the CIAA.<br /> <br /> A press statement issued by the body stated that Pokharel had demanded a bribe of Rs 180,000 with AVON Cycles to issue a recommendation letter for waiving customs fees on 36 electric scooters. Nepalgunj Customs Office had asked the company to bring the letter for customs clearance. “Pokharel had sought Rs 5,000 each for 36 electric scooters in return for writing the recommendation letter,” read the statement. The CIAA has stated that the authority has started further investigation into Pokharel following his arrest. On Wednesday, the CIAA had detained four officers of the Land Revenue Office in Dilibazaar after they were found asking a bribe of Rs 500,000 from a service seeker. Three assistant officers Mukunda Raj Pandey, Ek Narayan Aryal, Posta Raj Pokharel, and an office helper Lahari Kumal were detained on charge of corruption. The question has long been the focus of emotional debate and conflicting information. Now, Oregon scientists and health workers who deliver babies have some research evidence that sheds a bit more light.<br /> <br /> The study, which involved more than 75,000 low-risk births in the state in 2012 and 2013, found the risk of death for the baby appears to be twice as high when mothers planned to deliver at a birthing center or at home compared with when delivery was intended for a hospital. But in any location the overall risk to the child is very low, the study showed.<br /> <br /> “The bottom line is, childbirth in the United States is very safe regardless of where you decide to do it,” says Dr. Michael Greene, who directs obstetrics at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Greene co-authored an editorial accompanying the study in the New England Journal of Medicine but was not involved in the research.<br /> <br /> Out of every 1,000 babies whose mothers planned to deliver at home or at a birthing center, 3.9 died just before, during or in the month after labor, the study found. The aftershock was recorded at 7:41 am, with its epicentre located at Sindhupalchok district, 75 km northeast of Kathmandu. England took six wickets for only 38 runs in 24 overs on the fifth day to be completely dominant at the end at Kingsmead.<br /> <br /> Chasing a first series win over South Africa in more than a decade, England took a morale-boosting lead in the four-match series, with the second test in Cape Town to follow on Saturday.<br /> <br /> “Pretty good test match,” England captain Alastair Cook said. “The lads played pretty well to be honest with you … a pretty pleasing five days.”<br /> <br /> England set the Proteas an almost unreachable target of 416 to win, or four-and-a-half sessions to survive for a draw. South Africa never came close.<br /> <br /> “Not a good Christmas, that’s for sure,” South Africa coach Russell Domingo said. “We didn’t play half as well as we can.”<br /> <br /> Quick bowler Steven Finn finished with 4-42 and Ali 3-47 in the second innings to complete England’s dominance in Durban. Ali had seven wickets in the match.<br /> <br /> England’s batting was also far superior, making 303 and 326 compared to South Africa’s two poor totals of 214 and 174. On December 20, Tiluck made India proud when he bettered a world record in the ‘Farthest Distance Limbo Skating Under Bars’ at Siri Fort Stadium in New Delhi.Tiluck Keisam said that he feels very good for breaking the Guinness World Records.”This is my dream and it has come true so I feel very happy,” he said. A Class two student of Bluebells School International in Delhi, Tiluck has been skating since 2013. He has participated in various competitions and so far won a total of 42 medals and many certificates. Tiluck has already etched his name in the Limca Book of Records on 25th May this year by performing a 50-metre limbo skate under a horizontal bar set at the height of 7.5 to 9 inches from ground level. He covered 116 meters as against the previous record of 50 metres in 31.87 seconds with cones and bars under the bars which were set at the height of 28 cm from ground level against the required 35 cm and the gap between the bars was kept to 1.0 meter.
